Combining classical music with the San Diego Wild Animal Park, this program for babies aims to stimulate and soothe simultaneously. Young families get a hands-on tour of the famous park: feeding giraffes and deer by hand, watching African lions and zebras from the safety of a railway car, and climbing on a gorilla sculpture--all to the strains of uncredited classical music. Meanwhile the Baby Genius cartoon characters pop up, swing down, and float by as super-imposed images. Their greetings from animated hot air balloons, swings, and vines are clearly meant to draw wandering baby eyes back to the action. At the end of the documentary footage, Vinko the Dancing Bear gets his own music video, featuring the first and last spoken--or sung--words on this 38-minute program. Like all of the "smart" videos, this offering provides a relatively guilt-free break to parents, especially those with animal-loving youngsters. (Infants to age 3) --Kimberly Heinrichs
